Institutionalized Intimidation - How D.E.I. Establishes itself in Organizations
DEI - Discrimination, Entitlement and Intimidation
In this weeks piece from my ongoing series of critiques of D.E.I. in the workplace and in our schools - (Discrimination, Entitlement and Intimidation) I have reached the part of my analysis of the claims that DEI supports “Inclusion.”
If we want to understand how DEI Departments and Policies really function one must look at where these have been in place for the longest period and how they often form - as a consequence of a real or manufactured crisis event in post secondary institutions.
DEI is the institutional force and structure, perhaps one could call it a System, of policing language and thoughts within an environment to control what views and speech and policies are acceptable within an organization.
Demands for the formation of a DEI group in a university precipitate from the identification and the abuse of a target on the claims that they violate the speech-codes or ideological purity codes of the student activists.
They identify one or several ideological non-conformists and begin campaigns of harassment with accusation of racism, of “causing harm,” of bigotry or transphobia or with failing to affirm the de-colonial narratives to which the activists subscribe. The attacking student or students (or in some cases faculty members - see the Lindsay Shepherd Affair) demand that the offending professor or student be investigated.
The investigation often involves suspensions of the faculty member, accompanied by mobs who pile onto public shaming dancing on the pain and humiliation they are piling on to their target. This is combined with the attempted silencing of the party being investigated under conditions imposed at the onset of the investigation and arbitration dates set many months or even several years into he future.
These abusers use the existence of these investigations to push their idea that the institution is systemically racist, oppressive or has colonial vestiges that must be purified.
Demands follow for the formation of a special administrative body to protect students from harm, with powers of receiving complaints and making more investigations - often with provisions for anonymous complaints to be filed - to “Protect” students and faulty from retaliation.
Complex policy documents with fancy language, decipherable only by the trained “Anti-Racist” activists, ie, members of the party, are put before the heads of the universities in a fashion that can only be described as Kafkaesque. The “anti-Racist” activists present ONLY double-binds: “heads we win; tails you lose” options with their demands.
Administrators face the choice: cave to the activist demands; or be called out as perpetuators of systemic racism, oppression, or transphobic bigotry. If they fail to adopt these polices, they become the targets of the activists, shamed and subjected to hysterical abuses just like the trail of destroyed targets and human lives left in the swath of this agenda.
The agenda is power and control and the strategy is working. It results in the ideological capture of an institution and the installation of the thought police within the bureaucracy who run the institutions as a modern form of Techno-Stasi or a Gestapo - investigating and destroying the reputation of anyone who fails to ideologically conform.
These are systematic process of intimidation leading to the surrendering of administration to the moral frameworks of the woke-mobs and they have been acted out in hundreds of universities in North America.
When the D.E.I. people show up in your workplace, they are NOT your friends. If they are already there and you are feeling like you can’t speak openly or you have to self-censor, their tactics of Intimidation hidden behind the façade of Inclusion is working.
We cannot fool ourselves into thinking that D.E.I. In our workplaces is ANY different that what is being installed in universities. These departments are being set up under the same pretenses with the same tools and the same mechanisms of enforcement.
This is how silent revolutions and quiet coups happen.
It begins with the social ostracism and abuse of a target individual; a determination by a mob of social justice advocates of ideological non-compliance, or heretical thinking and action. It begins with othering someone and dehumanizing them.
This philosophy and bureaucratic system claims to be Inclusive of all people; but they, are like “The Ministry of Peace” - the department responsible for war.
