My daughter started getting into the stuff too because she's a bit of a social outcast and found a sense of belonging in the online communities. It very much reminded me of being a goth kid back in the day, so I didn't think too much of it.
But when the pandemic started I saw her mental health spiral and I feel the stuff played a role. My response has been working on my own mental health so I can listen better and be more present with her. Luckily she's pulling out of it, but not entirely, since that's where her friends are.
I can't imagine having to watch it go as far as it has within your family.
